Knitaway Weekend

I spent this past weekend in a cabin in the Laurel Highlands for the Second Annual Fall Knitting Getaway Weekend.  The drive down on Friday was breathtakingly beautiful.  From the PA Turnpike to the one lane roads through Laurel Hill State Park, the fall leaves were in full effect.

Upon arrival, we quickly filled our little cabin with bags and bags of yarn and spent the weekend knitting away:  socks, sweaters, blankets, mittens, and more.

The gas fireplace kept us warm as we were entertained by DVD’s: Juno, Waitress, Princess Bride, and Agatha Christie’s Poirot. Lisa brought her spinning wheel and a few people tried their hand at spinning.

Each person was responsible for a meal, and we kept the meals vegetarian (save the optional side of bacon):  pizza, french toast with peach and blueberry bake, boiled egg pie and butternut squash soup, taco salads and pumpkin pie, and veg sausage and egg bake.

We even did some juicing this weekend, turning this:

We emerged on Sunday a little fuller, a little further along in our projects, and little more inspired.
