Third Annual Yarn Ball

Saturday night was the Third Annual yarn ball.  The yarn ball was born of the need for an occasion worthy of dressing up in our finest handmade knit and crocheted garments.  The night included a fashion show, prize drawings, silent auction, items for sale, charitable donations, and lots of good food and company.

I brought this Pumpkin Hummus with pita chips and it was a big hit!

And I finally had a chance to wear the Halloween Mystery Shawl that I finished last fall.  It is knit with KnitPicks’ Essential and features clear beads knit into the shawl.  I also donned my Sock ’08 socks for the occasion.

Here is the rest of the Yarn Ball and fashion show..

The men knitters really outdid themselves.  Becky’s father, Joe, made Sierra’s gorgeous skirt and a slipped stitch brightly colored blanket for the auction that was almost mine.  He has only been knitting for about two years and will blow away any veteran to the craft.  Becky is wearing the combination knit and crochet top that won her first prize in Knit One’s fashion show this year.

And Susan is donning her Sidewinder skirt recently published in Knitty!

The Obama crochet bag was just the coolest.

I didn’t get pictures of the jazz trio or the piles of donated items or the auction and sales items, which is too bad.  Time just flew by and it was another good time at the Yarn Ball, with Jonathan and Becky as our wonderful hosts.
